30 Years of Our Work
Everything began in the early 1990s, when Nadja Brykina started collecting unofficial art.
Over 30 years — galleries in two countries, the Museum of Nonconformism in Moscow, and a foundation supporting contemporary art. Around 30 books and monographs, documentary films, and dozens of exhibitions in Zurich, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Vologda. Works by Andreenkov, Vulokh, Zlotnikov, Kamensky, Spindler, Yurlov, Otarov, Krunov, and many other artists have been seen around the world.
This is a story about the way a private collection becomes a museum. How a love for art becomes a mission.

In the 1990s, the formation of the collection began. During this challenging time, the support to Marlen Spindler and trips with him to paint from life were important to us. In 1996, his exhibition was held at the Tretyakov Gallery. In 1999, we published the first monograph dedicated to the work of Marlen Spindler. In the following years, we published around 30 editions in 4 languages about various artists. Simultaneously, 7 documentary films were made. In 2006, the Nadja Brykina Gallery was opened in Zurich. Since the founding of the Gallery, we have organized a large number of art projects, exhibitions, meetings, and events. Every year, a children's drawing competition was held in our space. We regularly participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair and international art exhibitions. In 2010, the Gallery was opened in Moscow. In 2011, a group exhibition "Unofficial Meeting" was held at the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. In the same year, a presentation of the Festival of Russian Culture in Switzerland took place in Zurich. In 2015, an exhibition of Marlen Spindler was organized in Vologda. In 2018, a foundation for the support of contemporary art was established. In 2019, an exhibition of Richard Paul Lohse — Vladimir Andreenkov was held at the Shchusev Museum of Architecture. In the same year, an exhibition of Swiss posters took place. In 2023, the Museum of Nonconformism, dedicated to the history of unofficial art, was opened on the basis of the gallery.
